Why 18 oz cloth? That's some heavy stuff that is going to soak resin like a fat sponge.

you will be fill & sanding forever The foam is the main strength the glass keep you from putting your finger thru the foam

Yes for compression strength, but nothing else.

Just driving at highway speeds, think of all the forces buffeting.

Without a good tensile / shear strong skin+adhesive, everything will fly apart.

Yes super thick glass is overkill, but. . .

had a foam/glass ass ended trailer stop ,car 60+ bent door frame bent tire rim wipe out fenders .To the pod foam deboned 1.5'' by 8'' at impact fixed with can foam. The door frame was bent back to front 1in.
2 layers mat 1 layer 7 oz. woven 1in foam inside 1.5 and 3/4 oz.
