Do they protrude from the body, or just applied to the wall?
I like the top one!
I like the bottom one!
If they protrude, I like the top one in that case.
How about a full view?
Nice work!

Steve,
I don't know how to use THAT drawing program yet.
They will be mounted to the side wall and project out about 9 1/2" or so... same type of look that a Camp-Inn fender has, except the rear deco area will be a separate compartment with a flip up lid for either storage or an ice box for the kids sodas. The fenders, where they meet the side wall, will be trimmed in lighter trim.
At least I'm set on the location of the accent stripe. I'm going to incorporate that two piece bead and cove stripe into the lighter trim. Nixed the full bead and cove side wall, using 1/4" ply exterior skins now.
I just picked up the ply. The bottom darker area will be african mahogany, dyed dark red and the upper area will be red birch, dyed yellow. I hope to get the wall frames skinned this weekend.
Fender #1 allows for the dark red to carry through as where fender #2 comes up to the applied accent stripe.
These mahogany sheets are incredible. The "back" sides of them look more like laminated lumber and are heavy with fiddleback.
I'm gonna do some tests with the dye to see how that side looks... my hunch is that it's gonna look awesome, but I don't have the balls to go for it without doing a test with the anyline dye first.
I bought seven sheets of marine grade hydrotech last week and was going to go vertical with the grain with lighter trim at the vertical joints, but found two problems... 1 the hydrotech has filler putty on both sides and 2. didn't work out too well with the dye on the upper color.
Now that I'm using two different types of ply, I'm going to go horizontal on the grain orientation and the only vertical joints that will need an applied trim are above and below the center of the doors.

I will post photos after I get the walls dyed.

The top!!!! Why did you change from bead and cove? I was looking forward to a matching Redbird. BTW....I gotta send you some pics of my fender disaster, just for laughs. My suggestion would be to take some cardboard or cheap ply and mock them up before you build...Take care...Juneaudave

Dave,
1/4" ply is way faster for this slow builder and this thing must be at least towable and usable in time for the 14th Dam. :o
Oh no... You had a fender disater???? :(
Another good thing about going with the ply instead of canoe stripping, is I'll be able to get it done faster and won't have more time to change my mind anymore than I have already... Other big change: nixed half of the dinette. (Rear section) That area is now gonna have a cabinet above the bed and the table has changed bigtime. It's now smaller and will tuck under the rear cabinet on slides when stowed... no more pedastal.

Hey... The accent stripe will still tie the Redird and the Chieftain together.

Thanks Everyone,
Looks like low and lean w/lower color carrying through wins.
I'll shoot for 3 1/2" of clearance on the fender and tire for the swing arm travel...
