Augh, chicory.

that is the awfulest stuff ... I have relatives in Shre'po' and Alec, and when I was down there nearly 30 years ago I made the mistake of askin' for coffee.

Now I'm from West Texas, and if you can chip it with a knife and not break the blade, I'll drink it -- especially first thing in the morning.

But chicory?

I don't THINK so!

But Dean, I might try this stuff -- once -- especially if somebody else is buyin' (that's some expensive coffee).

Papa swore by Arbuckle's which is hard to get nowadays. I generally buy Folger's (I like the dark roast, it lets me stretch the grounds further) and I make it a cup or two at a time with a Melitta filter over a mug.

In my younger days I'd put a scoop of coffee in the perc basket, sprinkle cinnamon or nutmeg over the top, and then add another scoop of coffee.

These days I don't drink real java later than about 2 p.m.

But I discovered something yummy last week: cinnamon maple hot chocolate.

It's a perfect cup of coffee; smooth-not bitter at all, has a nice earthy tone and does have a unique sweetness to it... The earthy tone is something I haven't experienced before, that was nice. Perfect in every way except the cost.
Do I think it's even close to being worth the cost?... Shat No, but I do understand the limited ability of "production."
My daughter has been asking for coffee lately... Say's her mom lets her drink it. (12 yrs. almost 13) I showed her the turd and told her all about it, asked her if she'd like a cup... She declined.
Kona, Blue Mountain, good 'ol Columbian esspresso blend... way better bang for the buck IMO...
Would I buy it again?... Probably, but only for a special occasion.

Yeah, I'll stick to my Kona & Blue Mountain too... Prolly the best coffees there is.

I saw this in the fancy coffee section. it seems the Kopi Luwak craze has kind of caused other coffee makers to change their packaging.

I've eaten and drank some pretty weird stuff in my life. On a scale of 1 (balut) to 10 (rare prime rib), based on the reports from those who've tried it I'd probably put this stuff at a 6.

My first real cup of joe was in Saudi Arabia....Turkish "make a horseshoe stand straight up"...after that Black and As strong as you can get it for me please....

For years we have imported our coffee from New Orleans... coffee with chicory.... We actually get out of bed to make it, we like it so much..

Now THAT I'll drink... It is even starting to take hold around here in Cincinnati, what with some of the Katrina refugees deciding to remain in the area...

Although, decent chicoried coffee is a bit too $$$ for me.

Now THAT's a laugh! Chicory was originally used as a substitute for coffee when coffee got too expensive, or to stretch what little coffee you could afford.

Kinda like eating beef because you can't afford possum...

I did drink alot of coffee(usually Folgers, or whatever is on sale). I would probably try it, if I was told what it was first. I hate when someone says,"try this" then won't tell me what it is.

How come nobody has come up with 'the official coffee of Teardroppers' ?

It would have a unique blend of width and height and would be lightweight in your shopping cart. A blend of gallion and hatchable beans would make this brew streamlined for your senses, with an flavor of cuteness.
