For Coffee Lovers Only...

This cup of coffee started out as a luwak turd, shown encased in a lucite block on the right, making it the rarest and most unique coffee in the world. While in the stomach of the luwak, a small cat like creature, digestive juices leach out many of the proteins in the coffee bean responsible for the bitterness in coffee resulting in a smoother, sweeter cup of coffee. The resulting taste of this coffee has a very smooth earthy tone, with a hint of sweetness likened to fermented chocolate.

I'd try it out Dean. Here's another link for a different supplier.

coffee

Postby CPASPARKS » Mon Nov 20, 2006 5:11 pm

I would not drink coffee made from coffee beans that I filtered out of my own turd...much less some kind of wild Sumatran cat..

However...I have smoked some cigars that looked like turds...but tasted pretty good...

So..I might try it if someone else paid for it 8) 8) 8)

This stuff is the real deal... not a joke.
As for myself, I'd have to say it was the "cuiosity of the cat" type of deal for me, but there is a lead up story here I need to share...
I don't remember the exact details, how or why it came up, but we had a coffee clatch each morning at IRG1.0 and I was a victim of what turned out to be a pretty darned good practical joke. I was told by a friend, who had brought some coffee beans for the clatch, that it was a very special coffee...
Maybe it was just my assumption from the excitement, along with the funning from my friend, but I truly thought I had tried this stuff at IRG1.0. It wasn't until very recently that I learned it was all just a hoax... The stuff at IRG1.0 was just an ordinary coffee, with a little flavored stuff added to give it the "unique" taste that this stuff has.
Am I gonna get "even" with my friend?... Oh Hell Yes!!!
AFTER they have a cup of this stuff, I'm gonna show them the encased luwak turd.
The objective of this pole is to find out if there is legitimate interest in having this stuff to sample at IRG2.0 in 2008...

Both Cafe du Monde and Community are pretty price-ok, even by mail... I buy 6 pounds at a time.. and it lasts quite a while (pretty strong stuff, so don't have to use as much).... it kind of gets our day off nicely.... we visited New Orleans and a friend took us to Cafe du Monde a couple of years ago and we were hooked... coffee hasn't been the same since.....

I can usually find Cafe du Monde at the Asian grocery. It was recommended by a friend for Vietnamese Coffee.
