We use a 12vdc heat pad under the mattress cover and preheat the bed before getting in for about 40 minutes. I used this in my tractor when I was truckin'.
But now I have added a roadpro 12vdc heater to take the chill off in the morning in the tear. Takes no time at all to remove the chill.

I have an LP heater, but have never needed it for heat. Its used more for drying things out from damp/rainy days. We're going out Feb 9-11 and don't expect to use it.....But I'm still bringing it along.

BnT...I added a couple of more options to your poll...I have found a need for heat yet but the coldest camping done so far was 38*s and with the wife and a couple of mutant chihuahuas it would have to get a good bit cooler to need a heater..I have a similar 12vdc heater I got from HF and a small 120vac ceramic heater if ever I should find a need for one...the heated (12vdc) mattress pads are an attractive alternative (power consumption wise) to the Road Pro type heaters.....

PS....WARNING...never sleep in a completely closed up TD, regardless of weather...or it may be a very looooooooong sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! always allow for some ventilation.........

down to -25F (truck idled all night ) and that pad made it Very comfortable indeed.

I voted significant other. When I had a significant other I wondered why anyone would want a heater in there teardrop. Now that I sleep in the trailer alone it does get cold at times. a twelve volt blanket sound good for breaking the chill. Where can I get one?

Dear Len,

You do not need the heater because you sleep INSIDE the hunting lodge 3 feet FROM A HUGE FIRE., while Jack and I are twenty feet away in another room where fereezing cold water has to keep running all winter or the pipes bust.

But it was great and more than worth the trip.

That mattress warmer will cost a whole lot less than a date. And if that leads to something more, never mind. We don't need to go there

Lee, the RoadPro models are more along the line of a heated lap blanket...the ElectroWarmth models are heated mattress pads and would probably work better as a heater substitute...truckers luv 'em........
