I had a 1959 double cab similar (not as nice) as that one. one of the gear reduction boxes broke all but one bolt, and i sold it soon after, man I wish I'd taken the time to fix it.

The car I wish I could have back would be my first car, a '63 or '64(can't remember exactly) VW Beetle. I bought it for $600 in the mid 80's rebuilt engine(could have been a Sears engine)and repainted. Owned it a month and rolled it(rear engines and gravel roads don't mix). Wasn't real fast(wasn't any kind of fast)didn't handle worth squat, didn't have any options, wasn't desirable then(this was back when muscle cars were just used car). But I look at the values of 'em now and cry.
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.

This was my first new car. 1996 Camaro Z28 SS. I sold it to some guy that was giving it to his 17 year old son :?
I wouldn't give it to someone that young.......that thing was fast!

I should have never sold my 1980 Toyota SR5 4X4 long bed. That was the best truck. 33X12.5 15's 3 inch lift. It would go anywhere I asked it too. Man I miss that truck.

I sure miss my '56 Willys PU I had back in high school...
Gotta start on a recapturing it, but the restoration is WAY out there a long ways yet... Meanwhile this '53 I picked up sets out in the backyard gettin' rustier by the minute. :(

62 Ford Falcon with Three on Tree...My first car...

Postby Alfred » Wed Jul 18, 2007 10:52 pm

Somewhere around 1981, my Dad let me have his 1962 Ford Falcon, with manual transmission "3 on the tree" shifting on the steering column. Only car I ever had that had a "choke" which needed to be pulled out when you started it. The floorboards were bad for rust, and the one in the passenger side had holes in the floor that if you lifted the mat you could see road beneath you. If I hit a puddle hard, the water would come spraying onto the passenger. But in HS, this was independence and meant no more riding the school bus! Finally the back wheel broke, something having to do with the bearings or something, and Dad said it wasn't worth repairing. Gosh I had a lot of fun with that car. Last time I saw it, it was at the Salvage Yard. :(

Honorable mention goes to my 2nd car, which was a 1972 VW Beetle that I bought for $600.00. Gee that was a fun car too. No air cond and the heater wasnt worth a hoot, but you could park it and turn it around on a dime. And a tank of gas lasted forever. A lot of fun. I remember the windshield washer was powered by an airhose that attached to your spare tire. So if you washed your windows alot, your spare went flat. Also the battery was under the back seat. Took me forever to find it the first time. There's no engine that sounds like those old VW air cooled engines either - putt putt putt.....

My first car was a 57 Ford I bought in Ventura, California When I was in the service. Drove it back to Louisiana and during the trip driving at night and I would drive with the dims on and when trying to put the brights the lights would go out. I had fun with that for the people that would approach me with Brights on.
There are two cars that I would love to have back. My first new car, a1965 Rambler Classic and a car to go back and forth to work , a 1965 white mustang with red interior.

Any of the 5 pre-67 VW Busses that I had. I really miss my 67 Westy the most. The most I ever paid for 1 was $250. This was in the mid70's.

Well, I guess I am the weird one here. I still have the cars that I liked the best. A lot of you seen my 65 Ford Econoline PU at Minden. I have a 26 Ford victoria coupe that has been hanging around for 45 years. My 40 Oldsmobile 4-door has lived here for over 15 yrs. My wife has a 40 Chevy 2-dr sedan that is an everyday driver. Some of them I would want back just for the money they would be worth nowdays. (32 Ford 3-window - 41 Mercury convert - 50 Ford busness coupe) The only one I can think of that I really miss is a 1957 Ford sedan delivery. That was a neat car.
Made a list once of all the cars I owned over the years. Guess you could say I am a carnut. 310 so far.
The impossable just takes longer & cost more.
