Here's where we keep the polls, and anyone can start a poll!

what do you collect ?

Postby bobhenry » Sun Feb 17, 2008 11:00 am

In an attempt to delve into the inner psycie of our fellow afflicted teardroppers we ask What do you collect. This is not tools , trailers and camping gear or even cast iron but genuine junque that is put on a shelf of stored that has no everyday function in your life it just there because you want it to be.

Old what's her name collects old coffee makers. She will dismiss any that are not fully functional with all their parts but are almost never placed into service.

I grab anything Norman Rockwell . Collector plates , Mugs , figurines, calendars , coffee table books of his work.

Let us have a peek at your more curious side ~~~~~

TOOLS, TOOLS and more tools!!! Other than that my wife would say I collect anything I can drag home. I have a collection of comic books and action/character figures from them. I've also got HO & N scale trains, no setup right now. Lots of NASCAR paraphernalia, 1/24 & 1/64 die cast cars (lots of them signed) and other racing stuff. Knives, guns, (handguns and long guns). Still got my old stamp collection somewhere. I've got a collection of antique and collectible books that I need to get around to cataloging and selling (probably close to 5k+ of them).
Cars, trucks, trailers, garden tractors. The list goes on and on. It's a good thing my neighbors like me!!! 8)

Powder horns. Well, OK, I use a couple of them with my flintlocks, but mostly they're old, mouse- and worm-eaten, and things of beauty.

Anybody collect notches on the stock of your handgun/rifle.

Sometimes I think I'd like to, particularly when dealing with government employees (excluding those employed by the DOD).

Cheers,

Gus

But the criterion was "genuine junque that is put on a shelf of stored that has no everyday function in your life it just there because you want it to be."
My vintage fly fishing tackle definitely has a function, though admittedly not everyday. There is nothing quite like fishing with a fine vintage split bamboo fly rod. I've not been able to acquire a proper silk line, but Cortland Sylk is a lovely substitute.

Money!
Seems though, that I can't keep it long before I get bored with it, so I spend it and then collect some more. ;)

This is part of my useless collection of vintage toasters, most are toastmaster and prewar. They range from 1927 to early 50's
