Toy cars are my passion

Postby Creamcracker » Sun Feb 17, 2008 3:40 pm

When I did my basement room out "THE DEN" having space for some of my toy car collection was a part of the deal --- I have enough still in Rubbermaid containers to fill another ten cases! (Don't tell the wife!)

Image

Then I started to customize some metal kits to copy my real car -- made the boxes as well!

And the full size model;

I also like to (try) to take close up pictures with some sort of background.

And this is just me messing around with a bunch of toys! I made the wooden truck a couple of years ago.

GINGERBREAD ... no not the cookies or the cakes.

Anything with gingerbread boys, girls, houses....

from afghans to advertisements to boxer shorts to figurines to cookie jars to ornaments to mugs to towels, to sweaters to pillows to lighted houses to ... just anything with gingerbread folks on it!

That's the only thing I really collect.

Old wood shafted golf clubs. Steel did not become popular as a golf club shaft material until the 1930's and has now been replaced by graphite. If anyone has some old wood shafted clubs around that they want to get rid of, let me know. :)

I should also mention that Kevin not only collects old toasters, but he was able to repair my old Sunbeam Vista.

I collect bears, all kinds, all sizes, regular and Teddies. I have bears that sleep and snore, ones that growl, some that walk, and lots that just sit there and look at me, bear night shirts, clothes, a tiny tea set, a teapot and even fuzzy bear houseshoes. If it has a bear on it I want it. They run from about 1" to 3'. We also collect model cars but not near like creamcracker. We have a lot though and of couse we have lots of MINI's.

Hey Len,

A couple of months ago I bought myself a Dietz Jupiter to take camping with me. Sure, I have a Coleman that puts out lots of light, but there's something special about the oil lamp. Kind of like there's something about Dutch Ovens.

I own a little over 10000 license plates. One from each state for the year I was born. One from each county in the state I was born. One from each state for my 26 model T Ford. One from each state for my 1940 Chevrolet & 1940 Oldsmobile. One from each state for my 65 Econoline. Plus a collection of Kansas tags from 1913 to 2007 all from the same county. Plus all the little city tags, bicycle tags, trailer tags, ect. Just sold a collection of Ks. Dealer tags from 1913 to 2003.
Oh, did I say that I collect old cars?
The impossable just takes longer & cost more.

My wife (now ex-wife) collected everything. Bears, dolls, baskets, cookie jars -- you name it. The collections took over the house. I stopped collecting stuff as a consequence.

I do still collect credentials and lanyards from races and concours I go to. They take up very little space. :D

old kitchen tools
cookbooks
rocks (gemstones and fossils) and shells

I used to collect movies, but after DVD blossomed, I sold most of my collection and have never replaced it. I do love watching movies, though.

I know what ya mean. When I want to see..I use the Coleman. When I want to just relax, I use a Dietz.

Jupiter's a pretty big lantern. I use 2-3 Dietz Juniors. Less shadows with 3 and a smaller font that I can use up quickly. So I can store it empty.

Try using "Charcoal Lighter Fluid" in them. Makes them burn real brite.
