This weekend while brainstorming the galley the question came up, do we really need water plumbed into the galley? Sounds like a good idea for a poll.

So think about your teardrop?Are you going to, or did you:
1) install water?
2) Sink?
3) Gray Water tank?

I run to the store and get a jug of water,, or run to the water sourse at camp and get a container full of water,,

Does this constitute running water in my trailer,, No sink or plumbing in trailer though

I'm installing a water tank, pump, faucet (J C Whitney special) and a big dish pan for a sink, but no drain or grey water tank. Hope it works out.

I figured if I used a dish pan on the camp table I'd just dump the grey water in the bushes anyway, so....

Mine is the same J.C. Whitney special, however I have used a traditional Mexican barro (clay) bowl. The biggest problem is that they are not all the same size, even when they are the same size.

I carry about 2 gallons of water with me. We use it for drinking. Where we camp, there is always a water source around. We use that for washing dishes. Running water in a teardrop just seams like a problem waiting to happen :roll:

and then things get wet. :cry:

I built galley space for a Coleman water jug but after the first trip the space was modified to house a battery and another shelf for more canned goods. The water jug is carried in the back of the pick-up for traveling with the spigot up where it can't drip. Then it can either be put on the camp table or just left on the tail gate.

I 'plan' to install water and grey water tanks, but it is still up for final approval. So basically I'm undecided. I am trying to weight the pros and cons of both with and without. I will definitely have a sink installed but the tanks are probably gonna depend largely on the final design of the galley and frame because I intend to hang them under the trailer.
Also have to take into account what the wife has to say about the matter, that will most likely be the final deciding factor.

I plan on putting in a 9 gallon fresh water tank, a faucet with a hand pump, a small metal bowl for a sink (which I will drill a hole in for the drain), and a catch basin or collapsible grey water tank. The sink is the only thing that may be removed from my plans, depending on how things shape up when I start building the galley. I will only have 46 1/2" across to work with in the galley area, since I went with a 4X10 tear design. Also, since I am putting in the Flamineta oven, it doesn't leave a lot of room for both the icebox and a sink. Sink might just have to go, we'll see...

It would be nice to have a grey tank and be self contained, but my space is limited.
One option I'm keeping in mind, is using the space inside and below the frame rails down to the level of the dropped foot well.
I've got another question to bring up about the sink. Originally, I had the placement of the sink, right in the corner next to the drivers side wall.
In my latest plan, I've got the sink and water tank centered. My reason of thinking for this change, was to center the overall weight of the package and to have counter space on each side of the sink. (I was a bit concerned about the weight of a full water tank being all the way to one side of the trailer)

....I am puttin in the JC Whitney combo with out a sink, just a bowl/dishpan. I figure without a sink w/drain, that better water discipline would be self enforced(can't leave a faucet runnin' if you don't have a drain)

I had the same thoughts about a drainless sink and I found just the thing a couple days back. At a sale I got a set of stainless steel mixing bowls for a steal. Now just got to figure out which size I want to use. They range from a large 15" down to a small 6". Five in all. I'll make a hole in the counter top to place it in and a cover for the hole when I'm not using the sink and need more counter space.

I have a sink, water tank with electric pump, and a hand pump, that I salvaged from a trashed pick-up camper. The pump is a real small one, just made for one fixture. Not sure if the pump works, but I'm gonna try to incorporate these items in my design.

Not really sure what to do with the gray water, probably use a colapsible jug to catch it.
