Would you tow your teardrop over 20 miles of dusty 3 inch washboard road?

Every time I drive on Calif hi-ways!

Number 1 did 300 miles of that and Number 2 spent 2 weeks traversing that kind of stuff. Of course, I've built mine to do that

Do you drive fast enough that the tow vehicle's wheels 'skim' the tops of the bumps? If so, does your TD's wheels skim the tops too or does the weight difference change things?

Depending on how bad the corrugations are, I normally sit somewhere between 40 and 50mph or fast enough to create the washboard hum Due to the dust that this normally develops, I can't see what the trailer wheels are doing. Suffice to say that the TD does not skip around behind the TV and nothing seems to have moved around when we stop and open up.

I-20 outta Shreveport LA. OMG. It was worse than the ones I go down to fish. I don't baby it unless the ruts are deeper than the wheels.

Just what 's on the other side? it better well worth it - If go fast enough, you'll skip over at least four ripples!

...it all depends on what is on the other end of the road...if I wanted to get there, washboards would not stop me...unless, of course, they were being thrown at me by a really large and PO's washerwoman(or man)...then I would duck and run like h$!! for the border!!!!!!!!

I wouldn`t but then again my tear has only moved 10 foot in any direction!

I don't like driving on washboard without my tear...so....my answer is a no.

I can remember 2 in the last 10 years the first was in Death Valley before my trailer and I was in the truck the muffler tail pipe broke loose and was riding close to the wheel.

The second was my resent NM trip I had parked the trailer and was in the Carolla drove 2 miles or so it depends on your pulling unit and what it can handle and the trailer if I had been pulling it the axel which broke in Albuquerque 100 miles north would have broke there and I would have really been stuck.

If like Paul you build your trailer for the rough stuff and pull it with a unit that is use to the rough stuff or been equpt for the trip then Yes. But after years of riding in the back of a Jeep with every bump felt. After time the body too has it's quirks. So if you are prepared and the road leads to a place that you might want to return to then it is worth the expense to set your self up for the ride of your life.

Sure, I've done a lot more than 20 miles of it. I traveled to northern California and back this summer......lots of washboards on them there highways!!!!
I don't have any fear of anything on mine breaking nor do I worry about it but if something would break I've usually got the tools to fix it in short order.

I would, I have, several times.

I built mine knowing the kind of roads i often go on. Desert, gravel dirt roads. I just take it easy. I probably have put about 4500 miles on the TD. over 500 was gravel/dirt light 4x4 roads.

If I had a choice, no, but if it meant camping with the entire forum group at a gathering, then yes.
