HATCH CLOSING POLL????????????

Postby darockrider » Sat May 07, 2005 1:01 am

Just wondering how many of you teardroppers close your galley hatch at night before turning in and how many leave it up but possibly enclosed in an awning or kitchen tent??

apprecaite your comments!

Leave it open and there is bound to be a freak rain storm.

Ours is like a fridge... you have to close the door to turn off the light.

Yes, the critters would get in if it was open. No matter what, it will rain. On mine it's not a true galley either so all of the above would welcome it's way in.

Closed. Racoons.
Cooler locked up inside, not just using the catch that is on the cooler, they seem to know how to open that.

We close ours at night to keep out four pawed and two pawed critters out of the food and Beer supply. Plus for weather concerns as well to protect the wood work from the rain at night. But mostly to protect my Beer and alcohol supply

I have a good time when I go camping with my TearJerkers friends. I MEAN A REALLY GOOD TIME!! Sometimes I forget to close the lid, But I always remember to put all my food in its proper place. In the car, a locked cooler, Hanging from a tree. My Dad taught us well. What I did on my new Trailer, the Slumber Coach is that it has an electrically operated Galley lid. An electrically operated Galley lid that is controlled from inside.

'Round these parts if you leave it open them mini-bears (squirrels and racoons) will clean you out. When tent camping I have forgotten to put the ice chests in the car. My wife wakes me in the middle of the night when she hears something wandering around outside. Then we hear the familar TWANG of the ice chest opening. :o The last time that happened I opened the tent just a few inches. The golden retreiver went over my back and attacked whatever was getting into her ice chest. Fortunately I was wearing something because I didn't take time to put on anything else. I just ran out in the dark where I heard the growling and scuffling. I haven't been vaccinated for rabies in a long time, but started to grab in the dark hoping I didn't get bit. I couldn't see the racoon or the dog, but I could hear them. Folks in the neighboring sites could hear it too. Flashlights were waving all over the place for that strobe effect. :? I got them separated and took the mutt back in the tent. She was limping a little and had a bad mark on the top of her muzzle. I cleaned her up a bit and decided to see how things were when the sun came up. She was fine without the limp. She still has that scar on the top of her muzzle. I will always close the hatch of the galley.
