Since this file was exported from a different cad system, I need you guys to tell me if it's usable.

Mike:

I opened with Sketchup 8 and the measurements were way off. More than twice the size it should be. 202" long instead of 96", and 100 inches wide instead of 48" (measuring the frame).

Here is a Harbor Freight trailer that was in the Google SketchUp warehouse. I reworked it a little bit and cleaned it up.

I had used this one as the base, but the distance of the axle to frame is off about 2" from the real thing. Mine is closer to 4 3/8".

Sounds like the scale factor is 2.12? You might try scaling it down by a factor of .4717

Most of the things I brought in from the Warehouse had scale problems. Some were 1/12, some were not. I had to import it to my drawing first, then measure it, and figure out the scale factor, then scale it up or down by that number. A real pain, but I couldn't have done some things without it.

It's just the cost of doing business.

Anyone have the HF model in an older version of Sketch-up?

I have 6.something and cannot seem to get my computer to install 8.0....irritating.

The model would be a huge help.

Thanks, Mark

Strange that you can't load 8.0. You must have an older version of XP. I'd send you mine, but it's in 8.0 and includes all the specific tweaks that make it work for my trailer. BTW, did you notice that SketchUp is not Google anymore?

Yep, Trimble now. And yeah, I can't figure out the download problem - I just get an irritating error message that makes no sense to me. And I don't think my XP is THAT old. But anyway, can't do it...

Just a thought: I have run other browsers for awhile, not IE. So I had "automatic update" turned off, because it interfered with things. As a result, I had never received Service Pack 3, and MS isn't automatically supporting XP anymore, so I had no idea. So I got online and found a place to download it from, and a number of little nagging problems went away. Maybe that's what you need to do. Worth a try.
