Keep the Woodie or cover up my mistake?

I have been planning on making a partial Woodie (side walls only, aluminum top) from day one. Made sure there were minimal fasteners or other unsightly things on the exterior walls. Well I made one beautiful external wall complete with new matching grain. And i made this on the other side. I used some ugly wood and then I went and turned one 90 degrees do the grains go opposite directions. .. I'm torn between pushing through as a Woodie, or just changing my plans to paint over the epoxy. The later option lets me add a few strategic fastener prior to laying epoxy and then paint.

Thoughts???

I humbly vote to paint it. Then you have the option of any color you like. Plus, as you stated, it allows you to add some fasteners. Bryan

If you encorperated wood feature into the join it would look ok but painted would look good to.
You could go painted canvas too.
Im glad i made that decision it looks good

Thanks for the input guys. I had this dream of a beautiful rich wood exterior. Enter. A birch, great to work with, but even with stain conditioner it just isn't my version of "beautiful. And more importantly B. My mistake and carelessness of picking and laying the exterior panels.

I tossed around the idea or picking up some veneer for each side. But that is more expensive than aluminum and then I still need to epoxy and do extensive maintenance to keep it looking good over years.

I'm about 90% sure I will paint over the epoxy. I will finish building the roof then make a decision. Maybe I will go all aluminum?

Thoughts on all aluminum vs aluminum top and paint sides? I have aluminum mill finished doors and currently black painted steel fenders. The origin plan was aluminum top and doors, wood sides, and color matching to Subaru "wilderness green" fenders. With aluminum or diamond plate trim along the bottom to hide the frame rails and underbelly attachment staples.

Now maybe all aluminum with same finish scheme as above or paint sides to match subi? Or maybe paint yellow (the wife loves yellow, and the yellow plus green makes her, as a packers fan, happy.)

How about aluminum sides and paint the fenders the same color as your Subaru like you stated? I believe that would be a great look. I have mill finish doors, aluminum sides, and orange fenders, an automotive color. Take a look at my build journal. Happy building, Bryan

Skin over the old plywood with 1/4" and re epoxy that. You can still fix whatever fasteners you need to, and then cover them. Never let your dream die, without a fight,

Only need to veneer one side. 1/2 the cost. No one is going to compare perfection to the other side, wood is too variable.

Not a bad idea.

I will decide later. I think I will epoxy what I gave and skin the roof like the original plan. It will be easy to make what change household six approves at some later point. Right now I'm trying to get ready enough for a beta level shakedown trip in mid June. Pretty stuff can wait at this point...
