[quote="Andrew HerrickDo you know how thick the alunimum facing is? I'm curious about the product, too, but I'm wondering how it will hold up years down the line ... can it be acid washed seasonally?[/quote]

I guess I'm curious as to why anyone would want to acid wash aluminum annually? Maybe it is a corrosion issue from road salts or something.

The aluminum sheeting on my teardrop is anodized. I do apply a coat of carnuba wax annually to help wash off tree sap and bird droppings but that is about all the maintenance I do.

The 3x version, not the 8x Fastgrab. Played with the 8x a little and didn't like it. The 3x is much easier to work with. Sanded the back of the ACM before applying the adhesive, and clamped it in place. I don't think I could tear it apart without destroying something. I think this is what I'm going to use for the rest of the project.

Looks great! I'll be following your ACM experiences and your build closely. Thank you for posting this.

Things are moving along, and the ACM is working great.

Image

Cut the basic wall out of 3/4 plywood

Image

Roughed up the backside of the ACM with some 150 grit sandpaper to help the adhesive have something to grab onto

Image

Loctite Premium PL adhesive

Image

Laid the glued up wall down on the ACM, walked all over the backside to spread out the adhesive, and "clamped" with a bunch of cinder blocks

Let dry for 24 hours

Image

After it dried, flipped the wall over onto the worktable to trim the edges. Moved it outside because cutting ACM can get messy.

Image

Flush trim bit on the router

Image

Router cuts extremely well thru the ACM. Thought I might need to pretrim closer to the final shape, but no need.

And there is the final wall mounted to the floor.
