I have been searching for an exterior skin for a few months now. I have been trying to find some affordable reclaimed barnwood, but it seems to be the most expensive wood on earth.

Yesterday I found someone selling older tongue and groove hardwood oak floor which were pulled from a home reno. they are straight and they look awesome.

I was wondering what your thoughts on a plywood structural wall and this hardwood floor as the skin and epoxying over it.

thanks!

If i'm considering a wood plank style skin, what would you suggest that could be lighter?

the floor i'm looking at is 5/8" or less thick.

i am trying to avoid just a painted plywood exterior, but I still want something that would look really interesting.

I'm not saying you could easily get that aesthetic in a much lighter weight material.

I'm just pointing out, that that aesthetic has a high cost.

If the looks are a high priority for you, then go for it.
