This is my TV as of one week agoImage
and this is what I am starting out with as a platform for my under 500# TD. Image it is 5 foot wide and 7 foot 4 inches long. I will be removing all the axle, wheel, fender assembly, and the lights then bolting solid the tilt hitch tong. The wheels will go under the platform on stub torsion axles and reducing to 10 inch aluminum rims. Also the front grab bar will be removed. As it sits in the picture above it weighs 210#s. With the changes I hope to cut 35# off that.

Is it possible, FULL RV in a 48 Sq.Ft. footprint & stay under 500Lbs wet?
SHE thinks teardrops are "cute" but I prefer a SKOSH mo-room & at 65+ the
body doesn't react/extract/move/mend/bend/lend or work like it use'ta.

I pull with my new TAG with our 07 GoldWing w Trike Conversion. It has many times pulled our Pop Up camper with King Bed and AC with two weeks of supplies all over the country, I particular enjoy pulling through the mountains. Our new TAG Max is a bit heavier and bigger in size, not too sure the bike will like that on the open road. I brought the TAG home with a Nissan Versa Note and it was good at 60-65 but it would be better with a standard instead of the rubber band transmission it now has. I have a Tundra Platinum but that is just cheating. We also have a Toyota Venza that is very capable, in fact, everything I own with a motor has a trailer hitch on it.

My xB is gone (totaled) so I fixed up my spare car for daily use: a 98 Ford escort sedan.

Image

The reciever arrived today.. a Reese "Shadowmount". I've never heard of them before so it has me intrigued (I'm a geek for this stuff). Not sure if they are produced anymore, as this one was sold as old stock. The mounting bar tucks up behind the bumper much more than the standard hitches for this car and it uses a flat tube for a slim profile under the bumper. Cant wait to mount it up!

As for wiring I plan to splice in a $5 4 pin pigtail myself. The stop and rear turn signal are already integrated into the same bulb (same as trailer lights) so no need for an integrator circuit.

Yeah a moment of inattention and the perfect situation.. Accelerating from a stoplight, A bird dropped a large poo dead center in my view so I blip the sprayer, when the wiper takes it's first swipe I see an suv feet in front of me coming to a quick stop from a car in front of them taking a long time turning into a parking lot. Ironically enough they had a hitch bar which probably did the majority of the expensive damage. I'm fine, only scooted me forward an inch or two in the seat.

I have two vehicles, a 2013 Subaru Forester and 2013 Honda Fit. The Forrester is definitely the preferred TV, however, it is Wifey's daily driver. If I want to do a solo trip, I use the Fit. I towed my 5X10, 1100lb TD 3000 miles with the Fit (5 speed) last year. NH, Ohio, Kentucky, Alabama, N Carolina, Virginia, PA and home. Only problem was heading west. The extra drag made it dificult to hold decent speed against incessant headwind. I am doing about 2k with the Fit in May, but mostly north/south.

Frenchy, lover of small cars. :NC
Five cords of wood in, snow tires on, 5 X 8 NT frame on order. Gonna build a TD this winter.

Old F150 I bought for my son then decided was too nice for a teen driver to mess up.

Thanks! I figure it's going to be fun to have around for camping and other stuff.

2015 Wrangler Unlimited..... Regearing is in the near future... After lift and adding a trailer with factory gears is not the perfect combination. Just completed first trip... 2000 miles round trip to Padre Island National Seashore for 5 days with my 5x10 cargo conversion.
