I’m looking for some info from anybody towing a teardrop with an F-150. Mostly I’d like to know what your with/without MPG’s are. But also include anything you might have done to improve or reduce MPG’s. Like using a tanau cover or a camper shell on the bed. Or if there are many accessories on the truck or camper that may cause drag.
I’m about to jump in on a big teardrop build 12’ long and looking at 5-6 wide bunk beds in the front etc.. I already have the trailer, I’d like to build to 6’ but I’m very conscious about trying to preserve my MPG’s.
If you’re towing a larger than average teardrop please attach a picture with your post and any info you’d think is helpful.
I took a tent camping 3300 mile road trip a couple years ago and averaged 21 to up to 23.5 mpg in my 2015 F-150 with the 5.0 V8. I only get about 13.5 towing my 21.5’ boat that weighs 4500 lbs. Is it wishful thinking to think that I can get away with 18+mpg towing the teardrop with my truck??
