Kampmaster or Wild goose

Postby Kman77 » Mon May 05, 2008 12:23 am

Hey all i'm just getting into the teardrop scene. I've seen a couple old photos of the wild goose and kampmaster trailers, but havent come across any viable plans. I was wondering if anyone could steer me towards some workable plans. I have found the old magazine artical but wanted something a bit more indepth.

Any help is much appreciated

I built a hard sided, squared off version of the campmaster. So did Rayvillian and a couple others.

You can see our build here

and our plans here...

Thanks for the idea, and I have seen the CAD drawings in the design library. I like your winter warrior but I was really interested in the original design and was wondering if more indepth plans are out there, or do I have a lost cause?

You'll just have to get a pad of graph paper, and make your own plan. But that can be a lot of fun too! :)

Thanks guys, looks like im going to have to go in half blind, but that just makes it all the more fun. Ill make a new thread and keep you guys posted when I find the time to start my project.

Any words of wisdom pertaining to teardrops I should know before I start would be great.

Thanks

I'm new here but from what i gather,the only way you can have too many clamps is if there is no room left to build your tear in.Other than that they claim you will not have enough.

Kampmaster

Postby jcbailey » Mon Jan 25, 2010 2:33 am

I am building my own Kampmaster. I am using an exsisting trailer frame. I wasnt sure what the Kampmaster's width was. Someone said 6'. Mine is 80'' wide and 11' long. 14' long with the tongue. I have a couple of photos of where I am at this time with it. I just dont know how to post the photos on here. . Let me know if your interested in getting one built. I also will send photos of my other teardrop. Very custom.

There is a PDF of the original Wild Goose plans in the 'Vintage Plans' menu item. However, I'm not sure that following those plans will build you the ideal trailer today - some of the details are pretty old.

Incidentally, as far as I've ever seen, the Wild Goose plans do not contain any overall or chassis width measurement - so the guy who checked the plans needs to be shot!

As both the Kampmaster and Wild Goose have a transverse bed, that pretty much defines the width:
- 76" is the minimum bed length in a trailer nowadays and you might want 78";
- each sidewall will be between 1" and 2" thick;
so the total width has to be 78-82".
