Critique of Design Requested

After considering many designs and visiting a couple of South Central gatherings, my wife and I have come up with what we think is our final design. Since this will be our first build your comments are appreciated.

The tear will be approximately 5' wide x 10' long x 4' tall. Most likely the finish will be clear-anodized aluminum sheet. We plan to use Kit-style fenders.

Nice looking profile. What's the line running down the middle?

Thanks. The design is a mix of parts of traditional profiles.

The line down the middle is trim. I plan to fabricate it from either aluminum flat stock (bevel edges ala Deserthawk's Cub) and paint it black or use RV aluminum trim and use a black insert.

I think this is custom, and therefore has no name, but I think it looks sort of like a Cub/Modernistic, but with a blunter front end.

I christen it an "aggie." I like the profile, but one concern is that tight radius on the bottom of the front...dont make it too tight that you cant wrap 1/8" ply around it.

Thanks for all of the nice comments and special thanks to Dean for the rendering. I was still wondering about my design from my stick figure drawing.

I do plan to make it light. It has to be to be towed by our CR-V. That lower front curve is a concern. Part of the curve will be in the sidewall only that extends beyond the frame. The rest will be in the leading edge of the floor and some blocking that I'll rough cut by saw and hand-shaped with a block plane and belt sander. That will leave only the aluminum skin to bend (which will be no small task).

As far as build time, I am in the parts acquisition phase. I already have a petcool, wfco power center, and stabilizers. Plans are to order an axle on Thursday (thanks to G-force and 2bits for the PMs on axle info). I also plan to place an order with Grant for fenders, hurricane hinge, windows, etc., sometime in late August depending upon cash flow. I'd like to get these in so I know where to put the blocking and size the openings. And when things get rolling, I'll post some pics.

Teardrop time is a great helper to a build. Get a deadline, a goal, like one of the gatherings, and go for it!
