Question on Benroy plans

Postby Zeke » Mon Dec 13, 2010 11:34 pm

Ok I have down loaded the entire Benroy plan and I have read them more than once. Could someone please explain (page 15) the floor should have an overhang of 1/4' on each side of the framed floor.
Why? Need help,please!

After looking over the plans, it looks like this was done just so the walls will fit easily on the outside of the trailer floor, hiding the frame. The 1/4" probably allows for tolerance when you cut 2" off of the frame cross members.

When I assembled my 4x8 frame, it actually measured 48 1/2" on the outside, and I had to re-cut some pieces that I had already cut to 48". It seems the Generic Benroy plans take into account this situation.

Maybe Mike or Kerry can chime in...

That's exactly right. Since the chassis width has a rather generous tolerance, I added some play in the width of the floor, so that you wouldn't end up with a gap between the floor and the wall.

Feel free to make your floor exactly as wide as the chassis if you want.
