Cloudland Canyon State Park - Georgia

Here are two shots of Cloudland Canyon State Park in northwest Georgia.

Jennifer and I camped there on the 12th through the 14th of January and it was wonderful. The weather was perfect, with highs in the 60s and lows in the high 40s. The park was clean, the rangers friendly and helpful, and the hiking was invigorating. If you wanna find a place that has interesting topography in the Southeast, this just might be your spot. The website is here - http://gastateparks.org/info/cloudland/ .

The teardrop created a lot of interest and even people with tour-bus-sized motor homes were impressed with the compact nature and "common sense" approach to camping.

As additional information, we bought an twin-sized electric blanket at (unnamed big box store) and only used it for about five minutes in our little Yoder Toter. Phew! Must be good insulation in our "Schmoopie!"

Thanks for the pic's. I am thinking of making a trip up there in April with the kids. My parents went to Cloudland this past year and loved it.
I am trying to make it to all the state parks in Georgia, let's just say I have a lot to go.

Hey Marvin,
Is this park open year-round? It is a beautiful park, based on the pictures and it is about 5 1/2 hours from us.

Ross -

Yes, they are open year round. In fact, the place really fills up in the summer, according to the rangers, so it might behoove you to go in the winter. Particularly if you can find an atypical winter weekend like we did. Truly memorable, this place!

Another place you might like is Tallulah Gorge State Park. Go here - http://gastateparks.org/net/go/parks.as ... &s=0.0.1.5 .

We might be interested as well, if in the middle of March. We are working with Dutchment to get a repair done on our T@B, so as long as the T@B isn't in the repair shop, we would love to go! We haven't camped there yet, but have heard good things about it!
