Alright, I made the calls to the state parks as discussed. Little Talbot (Jacksonville) and Anastastia (St. Augustine). I talked to the Rangers at both: Febuary weather both parks is mild (70's to mid teens in Talbot) they did say that Anatasia is warmer (mid 70's to mid 40's) that time of year. They both handle groups and allow dogs (with leash) everywhere but the beach. They have water and electric (30 amp) at the sites ,no sewer, but have a dump station on site. They recommend to buy firewood outside of park( $6.00 per bundle in park). Anastasia has laundry faculities at bathroom buildings. The sites are separated with plant barriers and are gravel. They did not have a problem with more than one trailer per site. I guess we won't know until we call to make reservations. They both have old tree canopies that shield sites from the sun. They both sound good. Little Talbot only has 40 sites total, whereas Anasatia has 139 sites. I am leaning towards Anastasia for the gathering. Let me know what you guys think?

Little Talbot Island

Postby lee » Thu Nov 04, 2004 8:23 pm

We are working on our Tear. We do a lots of camping at L. Talbot Island and at Fort Clinch at Fernadina. I think you all would enjoy L. Talbot Island more. Never camped at St. Augustine. but did ride through the campsite. We always camped in our popup. We think we will enjoy the Tear when we get it finished.
The grandkids said grandpa will have to stay home there is no room for him.
At L. Talbot Island the campsites are on one side of the road with a creek behind it. The entrance to the park is on the other side of the road with the beach.

Just want to let you know that there is another Teardropper in FL. I moved here a while back and I am glad to find that there are some local gatherings on the horizon. I used to enjoy the Southern California Touring Teardrops gatherings a lot when I lived in LA. I hope that timing on the North Florida event will work into my busy schedule.

Woody,,Talbot gets my vote,,I am looking at about 7 or more hours and ross is a couple hours past mee,,for us up here it sure would help to be as close as we can,,,and a smaller campground may cater to us a bit more than a larger one,,,I talked with Allen today and he is also about 7 hours,,have it where it is best for the Fla folks and we will try our best to be thar,,but for our 2 cents worth,,Talbot,,

looking forward to it,,,,bobr and lee welcome to the group

Welcome BobR, glad to have you in Florida. I am the Director of the Florida chapter of the Tear Jerkers. Where in Florida do you live. I am near Ft. Lauderdale.

Chip, Okay, Little Tabot it is. When in Feb is good ? What happened to BufordT and Jabber and everybody else. I have not heard from them. I am shooting for mid month 12-14 or 19-21. I don't have the BSA schedule in front of me, but I think there is a campout in Feb. as well. Iwill find out for sure tommorrow. Let me know I have to post the schedule for the Tear Jerkers site soon. You think Ross and Carla will come?. That would be great to have them as well.

So there is somebody else in Florida that read this. Great. I had to print out a one page calender for next year so I can keep track of all the things being scheduled. Never thought I would see it happen when I first thought of forming the Southeast group and health interfered and Ross stepped up to the plate to get it going. When you nail down location and date I will try and fit something in for the spring at Lake Sinclair in GA as I had planned for this year .

Buford's here. I might not have my 2nd tear ready by then. But that don't mean if I ain't working I can't come up and see you guys. Problem for me is that's my busy season for working and I don't know where I'll be.

Keep us posted and I'll do the best I can.

Woody,
I live in Lakeland now. The St Augustine and JAX area is about 3 hours drive for us so it work well for a weekend trip. Look forward to meeting you in the future.

Woody,

Of course, Carla and I wouldn't miss it for anything. The only thing that would stop us from going, is if we get snowed in. Febuary and early March are always the snowest months up here.

Where is Little Tabot? There quit a few teardrops in Florida. As soon as you pin point a date, post it on Teardrop Times (17 people)and let Todd know as well.
