Weiss Lake, Alabama

Camping in the Southeast, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Missippi & Alabama, also Southern Appalachian, Georgia, Florida, and Magnolia (Mississippi) Chapters of Tearjerkers

After much internet surfing, almost to the point of carpal tunnel pain, I am at a loss as to finding a campground near Lake Weiss. I did contact Curley's Cove Campground and RV Park by phone. That facility is pretty much dedicated to year-around rentals, so that is out. In conversation with the owner, he allowed as how most of the campgrounds around the lake were often filled with the rowdier types, and could not make a recommendation for a quiet weekend.

All that being said, I have come to the conclusion that the James H. "Sloppy" Floyd State Park - http://gastateparks.org/info/sloppy/ - offers the best accommodation for us. I have never been disappointed with a state park here in the Peach State. They are all well-appointed and clean. (And quiet . . . ) So - we will book there for the weekend of June 8th through the 10th, and anyone is welcome to join us. As stated before, there is an art festival and car show that weekend in Cave Spring, GA.

My Sister lives just out of Rome and they really enjoy the "Sloppy" Floyd park. Never been there myself. Would love to make the trip if at all possible.

Just made my reservations. Looks like a nice park. I can't wait to meet everone. We need more campers so I'm going to put a message on the general diss. page and see if we can't get some more interest. Let's talk it up between now and then and see if we can't get some more campers. We need a name for this gathering. How about West Georgia Camp Inn?
Not very creative but straight to the point. This will be my first outing this year and I need to get away.
See YA: Keith

Hey tear Fan. I posted another Topic for this outing. I hope you don't mind. I don't want to take over your outing just make it easier to find. I also posted a reminder in the general diss. area. Lets keep this talked up and see if we can't get a few more campers out with us.
Didn't want to step on your toes. Let me know.
Thanks: Keith

Hi all, I'll have to try and get in on this one.

On an unrelated note here I am at Deals Gap this past weekend.
