Anybody have any knowledge of Weiss Lake in northeast Alabama? Looks like it might be a nice weekender for the wife and I in Schmoopie . . . Let us know. Thanks.

Thinking about the 9th-10th of June. There is an arts festival in Cave Spring that weekend, and we have never been over in that area. The closest we have come is Cloudland Canyon. And we've got the teardrop jones. lol

I've never camped at Weiss Lake but I have driven around it a couple of times. It kinda reminds me of Allatoona a little bit.

I'd go to Cheaha State park in Alabama in the Talledega National Forest. That's a real nice area. It's the highest point in Alabama. (2,400')

They have an upper campsite up on top and a lower one around a real nice lake that has a beach and all. (I think the lower one is the nicest)

Cheaha is right off of I-20 about 25-30 miles inside Alabama. Pretty cool area to go four wheeling too.

I haven't camped there yet, but I'm planning to.

Oh yeah I forgot, Cave Springs is cool as grits. Neat little town.

There's not a whole lot there but it's definitely worth visiting. You'll dig the cave and the spring fed pond. People take milk jugs and get fresh water from the spring. If they're having a festival it should be really cool.

Have fun.

The wife works the first weekend in June, and I work the second one. May is all booked up with the wife working the first weekend, myself the second one, a College Graduation of the youngest on the third and a trip to Arkansas for Memorial Day weekend with a kayak float on the Buffalo River.

Life is busy.... Life is good..... :)

Maybe we can get a north Alabama/south Tennessee campout toward the end of June.

Hey! If we can get Dixie Flyer in on it, we could have a Yoder Toter trio. Hmmm. David and Marsha Niver are in Hixson and Geron is in Carrollton . . .

Lotsa possibilities, huh?

We had a small gathering down at Lake Guntersville last year with some Alabama folks. I think most were from around the Birmingham area. I like traveling that way beacuse we get to stop and eat at Tims Cajun Kitchen in Huntsville!

Maybe we can get some of these folks involved. We really had a great time.

Cheaha is very nice. Camped there several times. But if you're visiting Cave Springs there is no way to get to Cave Springs from Cheaha without going through Southern California. Well That might be stretching it a bit but it is quite a drive through back roads.

I've been delayed by several other "projects" and necessities so I'm hoping the TD is Campable by June at Least.

Unfortunately, we'll be in Wyoming (with the TD) on June 9/10. If y'all set a date and we miss it. I promise no hard feelings. :)

I think that might be a good weekend for us.
We got to use the tear for a overnighter at Defeated creek north of Cartharge TN last weekend but it needs to be out for a couple of days.

Here are some possibilities for the weekend of June 9th and 10th:

Curley's Cove RV Park and Campground - Cedar Bluff
Riverside Campround - Cedar Bluff

Anyone stayed at, driven through, or even cast a longing glance at either one of these places? We would like shady and quiet, and waterfront of lake view would be good. Lemme know if you've been there, or have an alternate recommendation. Thanks.
