AS OF 1/20/11 THERE ARE NO SITES AVAILABLE - ALL SITES HAVE BEEN BOOKED. IF YOU HAVE TO CANCEL (and I hope you don't) PLEASE POST HERE FIRST SO THOSE LOOKING FOR A SPOT HAVE A CHANCE TO RESERVE. Thanks!

"Women in Tears - Sweetheart Gathering"

February 3rd - 6th, 2011
Silver River State Park in Ocala, FL.

This is our 3rd Annual event! Everyone is welcome to join us - guys and gals, family and friends, pets!

I personally have never camped here but a friend of mine said he camps there a lot and its a very nice park with upgraded bath houses.

Many bike and walking trails to enjoy and there are some old Florida Cracker homes to visit. They have monthly tours but the dates for that haven't been posted yet.

There is also canoeing/kayaking in the river/springs to do, so bring your boat if you have one. They also rent canoes.

From the Silver River SP website:

Canoeing & Kayaking -
"The Silver River is one of the most beautiful and peaceful rivers you will ever paddle. With two launching points, it is up to you how much of a work out you will get from your ride. The most popular launching point is from Rays Wayside Boat Basin at the western foot of the Ocklawaha bridge on State highway 40. The other option is to launch from the end of our River Trail. This does require you to carry your vessel .6 miles from the parking lot to the river. We have canoe rentals available from the park. You will pick up your paddles and life vests at the Ranger Station, drive down to the River Trail, walk .6 mile to the launching area where you can pick up your canoe. Rentals are $5.00 per hour on a first come first served basis. Pets are not permitted in the canoes."

I plan on bringing a cornhole game, a dart board, and possibly horseshores. If you have any music abilities, please bring your instruments.

When the date gets closer, we'll start planning our pot-luck and any activites you may want to do.

 Looking into it but its a 7-8 hour trip for us. We might be limited to just one long trip next year, and I really really want to go to LCG.

I live in a terrible location for TD gatherings they are all so far away. :(

Quit your whining, book a site and come camp with us (oh, Fran will be camping with me too!).

I want to go to LCG next year too so I have to start saving my dollas' now.

I wish you could make it but I do understand the drive time. I hate that I live so far down South - takes forever to get out of this stinkin' state.

I'll speak with Paul and check out schedule. I'm not sure we'll be able to come then or not. We're in the process of renovating our kitchen. Anyway, I'll post as soon as I know.

Yikes! That'd be a 20 hour drive for me !!!! I'll have to see if anyone's brave enough here in the South Central to do some winter camping.
February is just barely , barely starting our spring weather.
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!
