window screen

Postby racustomfab » Mon Apr 10, 2006 10:45 am

Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum, and am planning on building two trailers :?
Has anyone ever tryied to use just screens for side windows
I don't plann on using my trailer in cold weather and also am planning on making a back-up system just in case the weather does turn bad.
Saw these in a Flying -J and one of the trucker's told me he has a pair and work great, and are well worth the 29.99

Thanks

That link sure doesn't give you much info on how they work and what the limitations are.

BTW, has anyone seen the fine-mesh (no-see-um) screen in any of the major box or department stores?

The Trailer for Two in the 1947 Mechanix Illustrated had no glass windows. Just plywood hatches that sealed a screened opening. I've thought about going this way a few times with fixed windows; keeping the illumination and venting seperate.
Commandant Louis Joseph Lahure has a singular distinction in military history - he defeated a navy on horseback. Occupying Holland in January 1795, the French continental army learned that the mighty Dutch navy had been frozen into the ice around Texel Island. So Lahure and 128 men simply rode up to it and demanded surrender. No shots were fired.

Rick
I used something like those screens on a van I had back in the 70's. You roll your window down and insert the screen. In bad weather you remove the screen and roll your window back up. Unless you have roll up windows on your TD, this screen might be hard to use.

I have bought no-see-um at denverfabrics.com.

I plan to sew screen doors for the doors of my TT, similar to the ones on tents out of no-see-um so I can keep the door wide open while keeping the bugs out.

I know we have the JoAnn fabric stores here. I'll check with them. I have an RV door with a screen door...I just need to find replacement screen to keep out the little fellers that will come thru a regular screen and bite the heck out of you.

Try this link for bugfree screen material. I forget who listed in a thread the other week.
