When you travel how do you keeps things in place

Postby Ron Dickey » Thu May 23, 2013 11:16 am

My wife who will tell me ya or na as I build the galley asked ....
when other folks travel down the road how do they keep things from flying in their trailer.

We Pack thing tight and have a line that goes around the floor of the trailer that a large bungee web connects to.

Use lots of tie downs and then unpack when we camp. We at this time are designing a galley and trailer.

Plastic bins packed tightly in the cabinet. The stove, extension table, and anything else that travels on the counter top will be bungeed down. I am installing tiny pad eyes in various places to give attachment points for the bungee cords. I lived on a sailboat for 5 years, so I'm an old hand at lashing things down!!

We went kind if fancy. Our galley has cabinets and drawers, so everything is secure behind the scenes.

My galley area is pretty open and things are able to fly around pretty well, I read somewhere where someone used their pillows to keep things in place and that Is what I do. Going down the road I stuff my pillows in the galley area.

We've got 3 large overhead plastic bins behind drop down/lift up door, and a large plastic bin underneath a pull out stove shelf. Everything is secured in these bins and even with a rather stiff ride on 50psi ST tires nothing bounces out of place. Can't over rate the plastic bins enough. I bought the bins first, then designed the galley spaces around the bin dimensions.
