Pet Cool

Postby nightmoves44 » Tue Aug 01, 2006 12:08 pm

Hey Sonetpro I did some serious looking at your set-up on the a/c.Great work I will add! One thing I did'nt see is how/where you located your control panel.Did you unattach & mount to the back wall or just cut a hole in wall? Also, is there plenty of room to access to unit from galley in case of removal for what ever reason? The local pet chain stores I went to never heard of them, when I told them of my use for it ,they gave me a real strange 'look'(imagine that! heh).I did some online searches,Pet Cool wants like $430 for theirs. But, I went to a site www.atrendyhome.com they were like $380 if I remember correctly. If you know of another place, any info would be appreciated. Once again great job,and keep fishin. Thanks. ---Moe---

I cut a hole for the control panel. The other mod I did was to mount the top control at the bottom, there is lot's of room. There is a door to the controls in the cabin. I found mine on Ebay for $320 brand new.
If I ever have a need to service it I would only have to remove the countertop (screws).

Pet Cool

Postby Arne » Sat Aug 10, 2013 10:39 pm

So, I was think'in. Maybe I should let everyone know I still exist. And might as well do it here.

I just ordered a 5k btu a/c from Amazon for $114..... to replace my petcool. The petcool was worth a try, but I want something built in. Will put a front box on Aero-1 as I had on my first teardrop.

The box will have the std. front door on it to keep the a/c from getting hit by road junk... Also, as I age, I don't want to haul the p/c out and about when I get to the camp site.

I have about 10k miles on aero-1, and about 40k on the previous build. I am thinking about heading south for a month or two in Jan-Mar next year.

And so, I am back. I bought a house in 2009 and have been doing a lot of work on it, but that is winding down now... Arne

I have been building a tongue box for a 7k btu combo unit. I went with that size because it was the smallest available to me that had heat and air, and the cooling outlet in the corner of unit. This allowed me to have a flange face made with 2 outlets. One 4" supply and one 6" return. Extended the controls and ran them through my 6" return and it put it into the headboard and functioning plenum. Then the 4" charge line splits into 2 and comes out of the top of the headboard and allows air to fall down on us and the return air gets pulled in down at the mattress level. Pics to follow.
