There are only 3 changes I have seen. From single piece globe to the quadrants, a different method of clamping down the burner tube to the base. And the SMP painted vents. Then it seems they just started buying 290s or something like that, no quadrant globe. Probably just tossed them if it got busted.

My 58 Coleman is nice. Was almost unused when I got it Dec 2011. Nice, clean, bright, has the single piece globe with proper lettering for a Mil Spec. Came with the box, a bunch of extra generators, the tool. Paid $19 for it.

Got all those lanterns at an estate sale for $57. I went back a few hours latter and got a barely used 426B for $30.

Thank you.

The nickel plated one is a 220B from Nov. 1939. With correct globe. I could not tell if it had been restored or had been only fired just a very few times. Being an estate sale nobody there really knew. It looks very cool on my fireplace mantle. As you can see it came in the original box, though it is in rough shape and some of the paper work and some tools.

I tell you kids and tell you and tell and you just wont listen. Matches, thats caveman days. Lighting lanterns with matches is NOWHERE man. Many a temperamental lantern problem will be solved by simply using a mini torch to start the lantern. That way you can quickly give the generator a warm up before launch. Works like a champ.

Shady one more thing I did not see get mentioned here on the Military. It does not like to play nice with the globe off. That aluminum gen. needs the captive environment to stay hot enough to work right.

Just sayin YO.

I agree on the globe needing to be on to help keep the heat in and warm that generator up.

I usually just use a fire wand and hope that it catches. I did note about pumping her up then let some fuel into the globe first, then shutting down the valve then lighting and reopening seems to work the best. But I will try a Blow Torch and see how that works.   :applause:

Just love the sound of that 252!! 8) :? 8)

SGT Shady!!
