Thanks for the info on the roads and bike riding.
I'm over 50 and can handle hills just fine, but prefer to use the bike as recreation more than for exercise.
I get enough of that at work. I got a new electric bike this year and really enjoy riding it when camping.
The bike trails are closed, the Web site says because of logging operations, but the map shows plenty of roads too.

Thomas,
We'll have to bring the cabin car, I haven't been able to finish the one I started on a couple years ago yet... :NC

Tony,
Thanks for the weather tips!
The road salt that concerns me is further north.
We have a heater and warm clothes, so we're ready! :campfire:

Rob, I am interested in the electric bike, I have wanted to do the one cylinder bike kit for a while, but hadn't heard of an electric version, sounds like good campfire conversation!

Thomas,

I'll be happy to share what I know; I have both a gas bike, and electric, both are a lot of fun, but the electric is better suited to campground use.
The gas bike isn't like a straight pipe Harley that pisses people off for miles, but it isn't silent either.
I prefer to make friends when camping...
You can take it for a ride if you'd like.Image

I'm a newby and this will be my first gathering. I went to the park site and got a camp site. I chose site 62 and got it. Later I was reading on the LCGVIII thread and saw the post above. Aprazr56 said he had 62. There must be a mix up or did aprazr56 cancel? Can someone look into this? I have a conformation right now for site 62. If necessary I could try to change, but the park said 62 was vacant. Professor.smith. (Dan)

...prof, the only way to check this, is for the individual(s) to check on the reservation(s) with Reserve America or wherever you reserved from...the park is not full up this year so, if there is a snafu with the reservations, there will be plenty of other sites to choose from...so, I would say don't worry just comeon down and camp with us...it'll all be good............

If you haven't noticed, I put CaseyKraft II up for sale. I still plan to be at LCG, and Ray Roberts (is we don't have a burn ban, again), one way or another.

Dave and I will have the sweat lodge if it is cold or rainy.
Dancing will be great fun.
Saturday, will break out the Chicken foot after breakfast!

I'm thinking about jello shots - haven't ever had them but might be fun. Of course mine will have Te-kill-ya in them!

Not unless the Gov settles. It is a Federal Shooting Range.

Just called the are State of Louisiana Wildlife management Minden office - the hunting area and shooting range are OPEN and NOT affected by the government shut down.  The only thing affected is the camping areas with comfort stations :frightened:
