63 Airflow

Postby HMK » Wed Jun 04, 2014 10:58 pm

The wife and I had a nice relaxing evening. We drove around DFW looking at a vintage camper. We saw a 63 Airflow. It was too much work for us, but I sure did like the layout. It had the front sitting area. Look at the pictures and notice the coffee pot lamp.

It does look like it needs work - not really restored per seller - but I too like the layout. Right now, unfortunately, we don't have the time or room to restore it.

If someone wants it you better jump quickly on it before Thomas gets it.

My biggest problem is living in an apt, I don't have an area to work on anything and if I tow it to the farm, it's a 2 hour drive to work on it. Ah well, onward and upward.

Hah, you are funny Tom, but not lying.... I wonder how I missed this one? I put my $$$ limit at $1600. MHK, what kind of work did it need that was too much? It look OK to me but that's just in the photos...

The inside will need quite a bit of work. The outside looked pretty good. It had evidence of leaking everywhere I looked. It looks like the wiring caught fire at some point too. I don't know much about restoring them, so take what I say with a grain of salt. A great floor plan though. I liked it to be honest.

Thanks for the heads up! I called and texted, no reply as yet. My Kenskill has evidence of prior water damage but just up in the corners and it doesn't leak now so that doesn't bother me, I love dark wood, I know a lot of people don't because it makes it smaller feeling, but I like it cozy! I'll post if I go and see it and buy it.

Please Do! I think it would be a nice trailer once finished. I don't know enough about them to tackle something like that. If I had a place to work on it, I'd try though.

Hey Thomas, did you get a chance to check it out? Who made this particular trailer? Any clue? I did a simple google, but didn't find much.

The seller never returned my call so I guess it sold, I never got to look at it. I am OK with that because I actually bought a '70 Shasta StarFlyte the next day for almost half the price! I like the Airflow for the dark wood and vintage rounded edges, but I like the Shasta because it is campable with a roof vent and new tires, and is super clean with very little water intrusion only around the roof vent in the bathroom, and it has a shower which was the clencher! Once I got it home I unrolled the awning and discovered that it looked cool and looked new! Then Scott and Gerri came by and gave me the front window shade/rock guard I needed. I am super happy and not looking anymore!
