Need power converter

Where can I get a power converter AC to DC? I want a 15 to 30 amps. We want to put it in the Tear Drop we are building. We also need any information on how to wire the Tear Drop. Thanks

Hey if you can find one let me know. My plan is to wire 12VDC and have 120vac outlets for microwaves and such, but would be nice to have inverter. Wire the 120 vac directly to a marine battery charger to keep the battery charged and still be able to run 120vac at same time if i want too.

Radio shack caries them. The more amps, the higher the cost. I think they are called "converters". 110v to 12v are converters, 12v to 110v are called inverters.

What do you mean by 15 to 30 amps. Is that 15 to 30 amps on the 120 volt AC side or is that 15 to 30 amps on the 12 volt side? If you are looking for a battery emulator try some of the electronic supply houses. Also try amateur radio supply houses, power supplies used for 12-volt ham radios. They sell some up to 75-amp output or more. If you know of someone in to electronics there are ways to use an old computer power supply to get up to 20 amps at 12-volts. But you need to know what you are doing else “buss, smoke, fire or worst” will be the results. That is not the excitement one is looking for when camping.

All I know is in our pop-up camper we have a central power pack -power converter. We wanted the Tear Drop to be wired like the pop-up. I think it is a 15 amps. You can use a l2 v. battery to run the lights inside. We always conects to the electric source at the camp grounds. The lights works inside because of the converter. We wanted this system because it works the way we need it to work. If we need to use the 12 v. battery we can, but its simple this way. I hope this makes it easier to understand. Thanks

Are the lights 12volt or 120volt?

The lights would be 12VDC in lee's case since they have to run ac power through the converter or can run off battery power.

We bought our second power supply (for the second teardrop) at Mobile Emotions. They had a better price than JC Whitney, and they had the correct photos for each power supply.

Hey Lee,

That's more than enough power for a few lights! You'll be able to run a few lights, a 12V tv and dvd player, lights in the galley, and even your mattress warmer if you so desire...

That is just a 12-power supply or better known as a battery emulator.
Just a note do not use it to charge a battery unless you watch it very close, as a power supply will over charge a battery and shorten it’s life.
Power supplies do not know when to stop/slow charge a battery.
