Side vents

Postby Tony » Sat Jun 03, 2006 8:42 pm

I have been searching for side vents to be used for air in and air out. I am not sure if I am typing the right name for my search. Does anyone know where I might find them? I am looking for the small round ones.

I've been eyeing those at the Home Depot also. They are n the roofing/sising area. Definitely not stainless from what I can tell.

I went to Lowes and asked them ... they just looked at me like I had three heads and sent me to appliances to look at the dryer vents. I asked one of the local hardware stores and the guy at least knew what I was talking about, but he did not have a source for that kind of vent. We thought that maybe it was not considered a vent and it went by some other name.

Check back where they have the soffitt and facia. That's where I have found them. They are usually used in the eaves to vent the rafters.

Tony if you are still building in Kingwood you might check at Streets. They seem to have everything and Dave the owner really know his stuff.

If terminology is the problem, ask for eave vents or siding vents.

Those vents are at Lowes in the same section that the rain gutters (downspout) are sold.

Here are some more good ones from West Marine.

I don't want a lot of bright stuff on my trailer, so I wanted black. Works for me.

I got a question about this, because as you can see from my avatar, my windows ain't nothng to talk about as far as air flow goes:

Will ANY of the above mentioned vents actually do anything to give you significant air circulation?

Just look at their designs, which are to let air escape, keep rain out, but bring air in? I just don't see it.
Here we go again!

Ira,

I wouldn't count on vents like we're discussing to actually move air for personal comfort. These are vents for things like battery compartments to allow charging gasses to flow outside the trailer.
