Woodbutcher wrote:Welcome to the forum. You have a nice start of a collection there. The reason I say start is you have a problem that needs to be addressed. There are all those special pieces out there somewhere that you don't have yet. I see you have a list of wants. You might add a waffle iron and a couple griddles. Maybe a big 14" fry pans for when the family comes back. So much cast iron, so little time. I make you a bet. When you see a nice piece at a bargain price it WILL follow you home. Have fun collecting!

I'm having a Deja Vu moment; I know this has come up before , but how about aebleskivers (sounds like apple skee-vers)? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%86bleskiver#.C3.86bleskive_pan

Do any of you have one of those pans?

We were down at the Punkin Chunk one year sitting in the cold wind waiting around and Amy (Team Captain's wife and first class pouch knitter) starts handing out these little warm dough ball like apple fritters. I'm like, "what are these and where did they come from?", and she shows me that, unbeknownst to me, she had set the Coleman stove up behind where I was sitting, whipped out her aebleskiver iron and started cooking them up. She and Eric (Team Captain) looked at me like I had a third eye because I had never heard of an Apple Skiver.

We ate as many of those as she could turn out!

She just poured a little of the batter into each pocket and then, once they started to set up, rolled them around in the pocket a little to round them off and finish cooking all around.

I have an aebleskiver pan. I am a penny pincher, so the kids teased me when I bought it, but we made aebleskivers every weekend for most of a year after I figured it out. We like them stuffed with pie cherries--that is, open a can of cherry pie filling, put it on the counter next to the stove, and stuff the aebleskivers while cooking. Oh, and top with powdered sugar.

I think I need to make a youtube video the next time we go camping. 8)

Just this weekend I saw one described as an egg-poaching pan on shopgoodwill.com.

Do you guys have jaffle irons over there?
Toasted sandwitch press things with long handles you put two pieces of bread in with a filling of raw egg or baked beans or ham and cheese ect ect and put it over coals to make a yummo savory snack.
You can put anything in them including left over roast or stew ,even sweet stuff, banana works good.
We have electric ones too

Yes, yes we do. Usually called a "pie iron", also comes up as a "sandwich press".

A few weeks ago I went 3 places to find cast iron, but still no 6" skillet. Walked into my little towns hardware after buying a 12 inch and there sat a 6.

Yes I realize that, but my arms /hands don't like lifting the weight. Good news is I get Medicare in December and should soon after that have my surgeries . One being my carpal tunnel. I know it won't help the nerve damage but there should be some improvement .

My apologies !

No apologies needed. I too forget how fortunate I really am. Yes I really am. I didn't have cancer I didn't lose any necessary organs. I'm still here. As I say it's only life. One day I'll be pain free and have a new body.
