Leather or rubber

Postby KennethW » Sun Jan 31, 2016 10:14 am

I have a old coleman gas stove. I use it a lot. The pump leather broke when streaking it out. For a stove that will be used a lot and needs to work should I get a replacement leather that can be reworked if needed or a neoprene that if broke will not work?

it has been my experience that leather if oiled occasionally is a superior pump material especially in cold weather

Thanks,
Leather is what I was leaning toward. The old one lasted over 40 years and sat for 20 plus before I got it.

Leather by all means. I have had to replace the rubber cup on a stove that I only been using for 25 years. The last 5 or so years I had to put a few drops of motor oil off the dipstick to make it work.

Then I discovered Coleman collecting and its been a fast slide into perdition.
