Today I put the floor back in and drilled and tapped for holes for 1/4-20 brass flat head screws to hold the floor to the steel tubing.I also used Loctite glue. Image total weight here is 467.1 lbs

Also today I added Alder wood where I need it for attaching the 1/4" Baltic beach plywood walls and I refitted the inside walls before removing them again to give them there final coat of poly.

Well look at that you got some walls up! Looks nice. I like how you did a metal frame. Do you think it will raise the weight at all compared to wood builds. I.e. Like mine. I plan to get mine weight this week so I can file for my Vin number.

I'm weighing everything as I build. Our teardrops will be a good comparison because there about the same size and shape. It will be very interesting to here what your weighs. Why do you need to weigh it ? From what I've read on the DMV web site if it's under 16' long and you call it a camp trailer not a RV you can get the PTI plates. But thing do change once your at DMV :frightened: :?

You have an awesome beginning.

I think that your craftsmanship in steel is amazing. Fantastic job so far.

Made a little more progress today. I glued the interior wall to the metal framing with Loctite adhesive. Image

I almost used all off my clamps Image
I also started on one of the bulkhead walls :) Also I've decided to do a running weight on it while building. So I will go back and add the weights to my previous posts.
Total weight here with walls and one tube of Locktite. Grand total so far is 500.2 lbs
Forgot to add rims and tires 82.4 lbs
Grand total is 582.6 lbs

Cool.

I'll be very interested to see how closely you running total compares to the actual final scaled weight. It will be kind of a subjective comparison given the different glues, paints, etc. that are hard to predict cured weight of, and the possibility of forgetting weigh something prior to installation, but still should be interesting to compare.

I've been working on the lower bulkhead wall the past few days. I used 1 1/4 PVC for my water tank and the 1/2" CPVC you see in there is for the hotrod heater. I'm going to use thishttp://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance-Products/555/70603/10002/-1?parentProductId=
Image
With one can of foam
Image
With foam finished and I cut the excess off with a hand saw.

And all closed up but still needs one more coat of poly.

2 questions...1. how many gallons of water does your cool looking water tank hold? and 2. The link you provided isn't for a water heater, its a heat system that extracts heat from the anti-freeze in your car. Taking heat out of the water that circulates in the motor. It doesn't have a pump or any way to make heat. What is your plans for that?

I haven't filled it yet to check the capacity. I'll do that tomorrow. The link is for the heater that I will be running off of my hot water heater. I hope that answered your questions. Thanks

I filled it with water and it holds 3.25 gallons. I'm happy with that amount of water. :)
