Alaskan Benroy

Postby ratrod71 » Sun Apr 10, 2016 7:31 pm

Installed the fenders today. I used automotive style fender welting to seal the seam and give it some contrast between the aluminum and the orange fender.

Here is a link to where I purchased the fender welting. I am very happy with the quality. I will be happy to post pictures. I will need to do that later on today. Bryan

Here is the picture of the fender welting between the body and fender. I think it gives a nice finished look. Bryan

Hi Dale
You can probably source it out at you local VW accessories shop, as they used it on beetles. And it is much cheaper to buy it that way.
Or, you can buy it on ebay in 10 ft lenghths.

Alaskan Benroy

Postby ratrod71 » Sat Apr 16, 2016 6:13 pm

Working on the hatch latches today. Useful tips! 1. I drilled a perfectly straight hole through a small block of 2x4. I then clamped the 2X4 to the hatch and used that as my pilot to drill a straight hole through the hatch. 2. I used a step drill to open up the hole where the t-handle screws to the outside. The t-handle has a step in the mounting surface that requires the hole to be enlarged. Happy building, Bryan
