Looks like a good rugged design. I like it. What's the tow vehicle and what kind of lift/tires will you need to match?

The tow vehicle at this moment is an F150. They are looking in the future to get a Chevrolet truck or Jeep. But they wanted the trailer to be "trail ready". More than likely we will tone down the size of tires for the trailer and match with hitch height for now.

Here is some frame pics:

Just welding the front up. Going to try and get the drive line mocked up this week and maybe have a rolling chassis this weekend?

Here are the drawings that I came up with for this trailer. If anyone would like to use them as a starting point go for it. I am using them now so there could be bugs in the drawings so use at your discretion and modify as needed. :D Let me know if anybody sees something completely wrong.

Thank you.

Here are a few photos from this weekend. Installed the flexiride half axles. Got the bumper made and on. Recessed the lights and added a receiver hitch. Installed the front leveling jacks. Getting closer to paint!!!

Went and picked up all the plywood yesterday at Central Hardwoods. All plywood is birch in 5x5 and 4x8. Seems like good plywood and I was able to get what I wanted with prices comparable to the big box stores. The core of the walls will be 3/4" with cutouts for insulation and laminated with 1/8" birch on each side. Planing on 1.5"x1.5" roof spars with the same 1/8" birch top and bottom. The chassis is coming along but not painted yet. Here is another timelapse:

Thank you.

This past weekend we got the frame all finished up and got it primed. Also was able to cut out the wall structure. Not real happy with the quality of wood from Central Hardwoods. One of the 3/4" birch sheets had large section of unglued ply. Most of it was cut out and the rest I pulled apart and glued again.

So with my first build I discovered PL Premium and believe in it. So this go around I am using it again. We have glued one side of the 1/8" plywood to the framing. And then filling in the voids with blue foam.
Image
I have never glued foam to wood before. So I am experimenting with the PL. I rough sanded the foam with 60 grit.
Image
Then spread the PL with a notched trowel. Image
Wet the wood and using a weight to compress it over night. Tomorrow we will se how it bonds.

Use caution when doing small scale tests with foam. You may get a false positive because a lot of the surface being glued is relatively close to an edge and has access to air, be it for ambient moisture cure or evaporation cure. This will not be the case on a larger panel glue up.

On some of the larger panels of foam where I laminated two pieces together using PL300, like on my hatch, I solved this problem by cutting shallow kerfs to act as air channels, or chimneys, in the foam.

Gluing foam to wood you can probably get away with a little spritz of water, or just wiping the wood with a slightly damp towel, in order to provide enough moisture for the cure.

I'm interested to see your test result.

KC thank you for the information.

The results for the test pice was good. After 24 hours it was setup through out the pice. Granted my test was only about an 8"-10" triangle. I couldn't tear the foam from the wood with my hands. I had to take a putty knife and cut through the foam it self. Doing that and getting a corner up then pry with my hands. The foam would break where the knife stopped.

Before coming home today I stopped at the big orange store and picked up some more PL. Knowing that I was going to spread the glue out I looked at the 28oz tubes. For just a few more dollars you can get these. I just cut the tops off and used a 2x2 and pushed it out onto the ply.
Image

Spreading the glue was a breeze with the v-notched trowel.
Image

Laid the frame down and filled the holes with the roughed up foam. Walked around on it and added weights to hold every thing down. Before putting the foam in the holes I spritz water on those areas. So I hope that it cures KC. We will see........ I wonder with the ply only being 1/8" would it allow things to past between for the PL to cure?
