Alaskan Benroy

Working on the hatch latches today. Useful tips! 1. I drilled a perfectly straight hole through a small block of 2x4. I then clamped the 2X4 to the hatch and used that as my pilot to drill a straight hole through the hatch. 2. I used a step drill to open up the hole where the t-handle screws to the outside. The t-handle has a step in the mounting surface that requires the hole to be enlarged. Happy building, Bryan

Thank you. I put the outer hatch trim on, and permanently mounted both sections of the hurricane hinge yesterday also. Pictures to follow soon. Bryan

Very nice. It looks like you're getting pretty close to completion.

I am so close now I can hardly belive it. Literally just a few more hours of time and it will be done. Attached photo is of the gray vinyl insert molding trim I used, and of the hurricane hinge detail. Happy building, Bryan

Soon my friend, soon. Speaking of birch trees, we got our leaves today. Everything is instantly green. Very mild winter. We are very early for "Greenout".

I am on the final stretch. Installed the hatch strikers tonight. Hatch latches beautifully. I am going to take off the dang white plastic protective cover this weekend to see what it finally looks like. Very eager! Bryan

Looking Good Bryan! Just on the curious side as to what your going to use to hold the galley hatch in the up position with.....prop rod's or gas spring's?

Looks like you got er ready for some spring and summer fun.........Great job! And will look great behind that 37 Ford Coupe    ........Larry

Still scratching my head over what I am going to use for props. I already have the mechanical sliding type, and the stainless spring type, and I still may choose the gas struts. This will be my last critical decision. Bryan

Thanks! The Hugger Orange really pops when you see it in person. I have always liked bright colors. Bryan
