As with all of your work, it looks like you are doing a wonderful job laying the glass down!

Are you using a putty blade to push the epoxy?

I used a combination of a rubber squeegee, foam rollers and disposable paint brushes. On the mostly horizontal areas I spread the epoxy with the squeegee. On the vertical areas I had to put the epoxy on with a foam roller. On the inside corner areas I used a paint brush. After putting on the epoxy I then use the squeegee on all the areas to scrape off the excess epoxy.

Looking great Dan, I appreciate the photos and all the detail as you go along.

I'm also a fan of your Sketchup models, you do great work. Out of curiosity, have you ever shared (or thought about sharing) the model for your Hoplite Traveler? I don't have the money for a real build yet, but its fun to play around digitally and dream!

 Cheers,

Nick

Looking Good Dan!
You are lucky that your temps are not the same as ours, as you glass would not have kicked??

Dan! Really inspired by your build. I love the trolley tops and am trying to figure out some ways of creating a hard-shell fold up trolley.
So how are things at this point with your build? Any pics you can share to update us? PLEASE!!!! :)
Best,

I've really enjoyed reading your build thread! Looks really good! What weight of fiberglass did you use?

It has been a long time since I have posted much on this site. I have been working on my trailer off and on, guess I need to post some pictures. I have been working on various parts of the trailer from the dinette, tongue box and electrical. Today I will post some pictures on the dinette.

Image

I had to frame under the side sections of the dinette to allow for weight support and also to allow for cutouts to access the area for storage.

Image

This is the dinette before I laid out for the cutouts in the side storage areas. The back part of the dinette also has storage, but that will be accessed from compartment doors on the outside walls.

Image

Image

I cutout a template from 1/4" inch plywood and marked the cutout locations on blue tape.

Image

I then used a jigsaw to cutout the storage lids. I took my time and went slow to get nice straight cuts. I also used a 1/8" radius router bit to ease the top edge of the cutout holes.

Image

I glued the plywood to the support framing.

Image

I used the 1/8" radius router bit to ease the top and bottom edges of the storage lids and then set them in place.
