Our first tiny trailer build.

Postby KingAirNeal » Fri Nov 11, 2016 12:31 am

We have been discussing it for years.
A nice teardrop to pull behind the Jetta Sportwagon.

Then VW had to cheat and lie, so we are selling it back.

We bought another Jeep. This time. A Grand Cherokee.
Lots of off roading out here in Vegas.

So an off road capable square back was in order...

And so it started...

Welcome! It is always good to have a plan, and yours looks to be well thought out. Good luck with your build!

On goes the tongue jack and safety chains, as well as permanent installation of underfloor sheet metal and floor system.

Thanks! So far it has been a bit easier then I thought it would be. I am loving the challenge. The problem solving has been fun, while the cutting of the plywood has been extremely stressful.
Neither my table saw or my circular saw guides are worth a damn...

I will be following this one. I hope to eventually build a teardrop for some off road use around Vegas. Hopefully I will get a few ideas to borrow from your build.

I live in Henderson. Hoping to move up to Mt Charleston next year some time.

We can meet up some time and you can come check it out.

Appreciate the invite. I just moved out of Whitney Ranch and am now closer to McCarran. Completely swamped at work lately but would love to see your trailer.

What saw guides are you using? I made a diy circular saw guide, same as in the picture below and it works fine, very clean cuts.
It's made out of 1/4 hardboard and MDF trim board. I just clamp on my marks and cut.

Sharp looking trailer build, btw.
