Thanks for posting. The more the merrier and might find someone that knows more and or different things about the area.

Here is an article by the National Geographic about mountain lions. Not in this desert area but mountain lions do live out there.

Nice video. I been north of Gooding in what they call a City of Rocks once. Then took the "road" westish from there along the edge of a canyon. I was in a 1974 VW camper van. It made it. Was a long time to go a short distance. LOL.

Nice cave also. or was it more than one cave you visited?

Sounds like you went out the road we came in. Real slow moving. Good call on the area. Only one cave this time, forgot there was another cave I wanted to check out in the area. Maybe next time.

Yeah! Let's do it again, Randy. With a little less mud, if you please.

Randy and I were the entire group last year. I can attest to his knowledge of the area. He is a great tour guide and mud-bogger.

I had not yet begun to mud-bog:

Getting close enough to start getting some meeting locations planned? There are a few interested in the trip on the expedition portal too.

I'm still here. I been thinking about meeting between Cary and Richfield or at Kimama again where we did last year. I would like to hit the road over the lava field first day and those places would be good for that.

This winter has been very wet, as in very very very wet. I expect there will be a very good grow of grass but the grass will probably be dry, and flammable by the time we are out there. That is why one of the local names for the grass is "June Grass". In June it is flammable but not like it is in Aug-Sep. when we often get a fire that will blow up to 100-200,000 acres in less than 2 days. Just something we need to watch that we do not start any fires.

I got a set of those GMRS radios. If any body else can bring some, do. So I can bore you with my stories. Cell phone will be spotty out there. I will also bring a business band radio that I can reach my boss with, if he is listening.

I have two privacy tents I will take along so we do not need to be all guys

When the desert drys up in a few weeks/months I am going to check out a few things, including the Indian trails across the lava flow where the road is.

So is the plan to meet the 15th early and have 4 full days of travel? Or meet at sometime in the afternoon and be free to head home early on the 18th. Just need some info so plans can be made for travel to and from. Thanks, George.

I am thinking of 4 days, 3 nights out there. Leaves enough time to travel out there and time for hiking, mountain biking, exploring and such. Between Richfield and Carey there are several places to camp if we want to make it 4 nights. and get a good jump off time on the 15th. But that probably be to long for some people. Well, we could camp at Kimama also, Nobody will mind. And could watch the trains go by.

Any one like the idea of 4 nights of camping. Or as I did last year meet up about 12 noon.

Wolfgang, are you still thinking about going this year?

Maybe set up a meeting place and a departure time of maybe 9am. If people want to spend the night at the meeting place they can, and those that may prefer to meet in the morning can roll in anytime before 9. This way those that want to spend the night there can and those that may prefer to spend the night at a local town can make if before departure time. 9am is still fairly early. Just a suggestion.
