I don't remember if the stuff I used was "fast grab" but it was the premium label. I don't just puncture the seal once, I do several and try to do them in a circle (if you look in the cut off nozzle tip you can see the foil). Then when I first squeeze some out I check to see if a piece of the foil comes adrift and pluck it out (with disposable rubber gloves or a rag). Sometimes it comes out, sometimes it stays in, but there is never a question that the seal has been well broken.
I also tend to cut the tip at least 1/4 inch. If I want a thinner application I use a small notched trowel I made from those fake credit cards you get as junk mail (or an old credit/healthcare card).
I haven't ever used it in really cold weather, but when I have used it it is about the consistency of creamy peanut butter, perhaps a little looser, not quite mayonnaise.
