Finally had the chance to pick up a better TV yesterday. 04 Saturn Vue 2.2l manual trans.

Browsing for a receiver. time to get those hands dirty.

My auto-trans escort really isn't up to the task for highway towing.. It throws a fit over 55mph with my utility trailer.. unloaded.

Glad to have a manual again.

Up until 2 weeks ago we were always tent campers and this 2013 jku Rubicon was the perfect fit for all of our adventures.
When we started looking into buying or building a camper I knew weight would be our biggest obstacle since our town vehicle is only rated to tow 3,500 pounds stock.
I actually found the company Micro lite on this forum. For the size and the weight it was our best option.
We made the drive to Indiana from Virginia 2 weekends ago and picked it up.Image

We just upgraded from the Scion xB to a 2003 v8 4runner 4wd. I know, overkill. We still have the xB. The plan is for a larger and heavier TT in the future.

Now that is a right sized tow vehicle for a tiny travel trailer. :D
I can't believe some of the monsters some of these people think are necessary to tow a "tiny" travel trailer.

Oh No.... I see you have upgraded. It also appears you plan to get a larger trailer.

2016 Subaru Impreza with a 2" Torklift ecohitch receiver made for an XV Crosstrek hidden behind the bumper and accessed through the rear foglight port - see http://torkliftcentral.com/2013-2017-su ... tch-invisi, but I bought it pre-owned but unused off of Craigslist from a guy who ordered the wrong hitch for his car. I was using the utility trailer to move (both cars, my rooftop carrier, and the trailer are all loaded to the gills in this picture) with but then planning to pull the box off to make a toolshed out of it and using the frame for my teardrop.

Receiver is good for more than just towing.

Incidentally, the Aussie owner's manual for my car gives the towing capacity at 2,800 lbs but the American manual says that Subaru doesn't recommend towing with it.

I am towing in the top picture LOL
In the bottom one, we had gone up to Atlanta to pick.up an.antique GE monitor-top fridge and were going to install lights on the little trailer before returning. The deal fell through when the fridge leaked it's sulfur dioxide all around us, almost killing me in the process. Rather than waste more time installing lights to pull the little trailer home in the dark, we just picked it up and set it on the cargo platform along with our camping gear.
Incidentally, that pic was taken when we stopped for fried green tomatoes at the Whistle-stop Cafe in Juliette, GA.

2012 Porsche Cayenne V6 hybrid. It's easy to forget there's a camper back there.
I dream of a day when a chicken can cross the road without having his motives questioned.

I tow with a 2004 Pontiac Vibe. I own three of them. I tow about 900 pounds and get 24 MPG.

Pic is in my signature. 2009 Silverado LTZ. For now just tenting until my camper is done which will be a while since I'm still in the planning stages. Good news is I'll have plenty of truck to tow it! :)
