Question, help needed from painting specialists:

I may want to tow the trailer to new location across country, but its surface is epoxy fiberglass which will deteriorate pretty quickly under the weather and sun rays. So, I was thinking of a quick job of covering the trailer with 100% latex acrylic house paint with a roller, just for now so I can tow and store it outside..

Is that OK to do? Can I sand it later to cover with epoxy or other primer and polyurethane paint??

Thanks for any input.

Want my professional opinion? Don't do it. You'll have a mess on your hands later unless all you ever do is latex. Instead I would get some 2K primer and primer it. Spraying it is best, roll it if you must, but stay away from house paint. Your craftsmanship is worthy of better...

Thanks Michael, I agree that after so much work on this trailer, I do not want to deal with any more problems. If I use a 2K primer, what is the minimal recommended temperature to apply? It is still pretty cold here. Maybe I'll just leave it in the garage if I cannot prime it properly until I can move the household. Will check with auto paint suppliers tomorrow.

Another question: I did not finish fairing yet. Is that ok to prime and then come back with filler and fairing over the primer ?

I glued up the "bathroom" area and then permanently glued the counter top today:

Yes, that's the beauty of the 2K primer... when you come back to it, it will be ready for whatever needs done. No worries! Definitely the way to go. You'll need some decent temps in the mid 60's. Prime it in the garage with a small heater to take off the chill. She's sure beautiful, your work is outstanding! Good luck OP. I hope thinks really start to fall your way.

While connecting 3-way dometic fridge today, I've discovered that its (seems to be) original 110V power cord wires inside have isolation that is completely dried out and cracked for the whole length, especially green earth wire which just was falling apart. Never seen such material defect in power cords before, seems to be not related to any overcharge and overheating, it only draws 0.85A from 110V, and the wires inside are all shiny. Good thing it had a little damage in a cover that drawn my attention to it. Would have a time bomb fire potential, clearly. From outside the black rubber cord jacket looked completely normal and flexible. Seems like some chemical composition defect. Beware. Now I have to check my old Boler trailer's fridge that has dometic next size bigger model.

Here is some minor progress towards finishing the build. Finally I have arranged to ship the trailer to our new home in Ontario. We have moved across the country from West to East this week. The TV and trailer build were loaded on the transport and wrapped for protection. Now in transit to our new home location. Sorry for blurry images. The car and trailer are full of tools, materials, home stuff, loaded close to their max capacity.

It will be sometime before I can do some further progress with the build. Need to put tools and things back together, organize and perhaps build a workshop(?). Quite a few things to do in my spare time from work. Cheers guys.

Glad you are able to finally take this step! I know what a struggle life can be sometimes, but I hope you are feeling the struggles slipping away as you settle into your new home! It's all coming together now and this step proves that. Only good luck to you my friend...
