Here is a trick that proved invaluable. I put some masking tape on the outside so I could mark where each spar is. Then I ran a string line on the centre of each to ensure the screws hit a spar.
After removing the straps I noticed a little bit of veneer cracking right at the end of the bend on one side. I hope a sand a a few more coats of varnish will sort that out.
Progress this weekend includes Stoneguard layer on the front, hood for where the electrical wiring emerges, and the overhang on the roof trimmed with the router.
Trailer attachment legs made from recycled motorcycle shipping crate. I cut sheet metal and bent over the wood. The 45 deg bevel will help to slide down the edge of the trailer if it is not quite possitioned perfectly.
Today I installed the vent and added a strip of ply down the centre line to seal the butt join between the roof sheets. A cove bit on the end made it fit nicely over the rounded edge of the stone guard board. I would have preferred a darker color for the vent. Perhaps I'll find a suitable paint for plastic at some stage.
It has been a challenge lately to find time to "make sawdust" but I finally started framing up the kitchen area tonight. It was pretty slow because I don't like using power tools at night so I was doing rip cuts with a hand saw! .
I have also completed my trailer attachment legs that will let me unbolt from the trailer and reattach easily. The piece of plywood with the T nuts has been glued on the inside of the rail so I don't need a socket or spanner behind
Well the fridge slide worked fine but there was a measurement problem. I forgot it has a gas fitting sticking out the back! Doh! So there is now a cut out in the bulkhead to accommodate it. I'll construct a little box to seal it off from the interior after I finish the hatch.
