2018 Hoosier Shivaree

Postby prohandyman » Mon Oct 23, 2017 3:37 pm

Well after discussion with several winter camping enthusiast we have decided to hold another gathering in the cold. We once again are planning for January, and as for now on the 27th. That is the weekend before the SuperBowl if that matters and we will be at Brown County state park, where, 10 or so years ago we met there, and woke up to sub-zero temps!!
We stayed warm, huddling around a fire almost the entire weekend. So... Who's in? I'll be checking with the park in the coming weeks to confirm our visit. Get those heaters warmed up!!

I stopped by the park last week and checked with the staff. There will be sites open, a heated comfort station available, and firewood will be available for sale. Also, if there is snow on the ground that weekend they will plow the sites for us.
A little over a month away. :woohoo:

Testing the little camper in the cold today and tonight before Scotty sleeps in it. It's up to 27 degrees inside from 15 when I put the heater in it, I have a wireless that I can sit in the house and watch it. It's also never been plugged in for 24 hours straight.

I'll go. I need some camp fire time. I'll dig out the party tent. :D

The Deepest spot in Lake Superior, the largest of the Great Lakes is 1,333 feet or about 222 fathoms. This profound depth could easily contain the entire 1,250' Empire State Building, even with a 50-foot-tall King Kong perched atop.

Ok we're planning on moving this gathering to mounds state park in Anderson, nice small campground paved sites. Close to the casino if you get board or cold lol. I'm planning on being there fairly early I'd like to be there by noon. It's a pay when you get there they don't take reservations. Hope to see some people there it's not gonna be to bad a weekend for Jan

They are putting in 50 amp service throughout the park. It was originally going to be closed from Nov 17th through the end of the year. When I called today I was told it was indeed closed but there was a possibility it could be open by the end of the week.
