Little Spark

Postby ojgrsoi » Mon Dec 18, 2017 9:05 pm

I am building a small camper. I have been working on it since June. It started out great but life got in the way with a death in the family, vacation, and working in hurricane recovery. I hope to get started back on the work after Christmas. I purchased a frame off CL. Painted and rewired it as well as installing an axle. Then I built the base with under floor storage. It will have solar charger for the 12V system as well as 110 for AC. I have a 3 speed speed fan for the roof.

Here is the progress.

Trailer floor is 5x8.

Here you might be able to see the floor will be about 10 inches wider than the trailer floor. This gives more room for a queen size matress. Also raising the floor above the fenders allowed for under floor storage. There will be LED lights in the under floor storage.

It's a Barbie jeep painted camo. I bought if off CL for $20. My grandkids ran the wheels off the thing. I found that original owners buy those electrics and get tired of falling over them in the garage when the first battery dies. The child has outgrown it and then they just want it out of the way. You can buy a small server battery (12SLA) pretty cheap and change the connectors to make a very inexpensive toy. Kids don't care if its used. They just like to ride it. At one time I had four. Then my grandkids outgrew them and I gave them away.

Had a setback. Big rain got the ceiling wet and slightly warped the street side. I installed an angle brace on the outside. It has holes in it. I drilled holes and pulled it straight using lag screws and a 2x4 on the inside near the center. It is now straight.

I have removed and trashed the water damaged ceiling. Had to unwire the 110 where it was drilled through a ceiling panel. Also today I'm installing the side marker lights as I am moving.

I know this is where I should post photos. Not much to see. :(

There are three 12V circuits. One feeds the cabin 12V panel with a lighter socket, USB socket, voltage gauge and switched wall lights. The next circuit is for the fan and overhead light. The third feeds the galley lights, 12V lighter/USB sockets and another voltage gauge. The two 120V breakers feed 1) the three wall outlets and 2) the battery charger. All outlets are on gfci.

Also added the shore line plug. I have a fantastic fan which I'll install when I finish the outside.

Put the door on and bent some plywood today. Fan mounted but not connected. Trying to get this so it will move down the road.

Image

The door is from an AMGeneral DJ5M. The rear door opening is the same size. I'm shopping CL for another door.
