Window Sourcing

Postby Mr. King » Tue Dec 12, 2017 2:47 pm

Greetings All,

Where do you get your windows?!

I am in the process of converting a cargo trailer that I had custom built about a year ago.

There are three windows installed in the trailer, one of which will not accommodate the 2" thick walls. Yes, it is insulated to the point that about the only conduction paths are the window frames themselves and the door (1½ inches of foam).

Anyway, back to the original question... I'm looking for a window to fit a 30¼" x 30¼" x 2" opening. HELP!

Thanks!

Do you need the complete window or would a proper sized ring do the job?

I have seen a few people just screw the window on from the outside. Make sure you have something to screw into and might work in your case.

Check out larger auto salvage yards. They will often have RVs of all types. You can get some very, very good deals. Windows, water pumps, electric distribution, wiring, water tanks, oh and in one case I paid $10 for anything I wanted inside one RV and found $78, a window AC, 38 gal fresh water tank, new pump and a decent 3 way fridge.

Here is a drawing of window installation when window is thicker or thinner than wall.

Some rings can be flipped too. I'm not sure where you can order different depth rings...
