About your Hot water heater, having both elect. and Propane is nice. You'll
find that gas heats the water faster and the elect. is good if you have time
and if you are paying for elect. it will def. run up the bill. But, some campgrounds
do offer a 1 or 3 nighter an inclusive fee in which the elect. is covered. Always ask
first before you flip the switch for the elect. to heat your water unless of course
your solar is up to the task ...

Hi Hank. This HW heater element is 1500W so it would be too much for my inverter to handle while water heats. Electric will only be used when I have shore power (or gen if I run out of propane and want hot water when boondocking). The last two times I used the trailer in places that had hookups, the power was included in the daily fee.

This heater will run gas and electric at same time for a super fast recovery, but I cannot see needing that too often.

Hey, good call on that one. Take a close look at the housing and the connecting "hooks". I can pretty much guaranty that one is a leaker. Nasty situation avoided. Just as an aside, I have dealt with that company before and they were great. No problem with returns and they credited my paypal right away.

Just got done building an adjustable 80m - 10m antenna for the CTC. I am making a mount for it and will try it out. There is another 15ft of aluminum tubing that fits together for the whip part of the antenna. Will have about a 5,000 mile range with 100W on this one I am hoping.

Nice Job! Love the pvc and plumbing hangers. My friends call me the pvc engineer haha. I use it alot, the stuff is just so darn handy and useful.
We used to make those adjustable rheostat things for our crystal radios as kids, funny how some things never change. We just do it a little more expensively and on a larger scale.

You got it. It is a loading coil that is adjustable and makes the aluminum whip (antenna) resonate from about 3Mhz to 30Mhz depending on the slider location. Toys.. gotta have them.

Regarding macerators, I may use one day. It would be handy. Maybe just keep it at home...

My 1964 Avion (AirStearm style) once had a screw type macerator that fed black tank to the TV exhaust manifold and burned all waste out the exhaust pipe!

It was no longer installed on the Avion when I had in 2001. But the owners manual detailing how to hook it up and use it.

Imagine smelling that on the highway.

My coworker had a Bio Diesel conversion we installed on his VW. I could find him on the crowded drive to work from the smell of his stolen french fry oil.

BTW Don't do Bio Diesel. We had to tear his engine down for piston ring cleaning at least every 20K miles. He got done for free as we were doing research.

Wow... I never heard of that where the backwater was fed to the exhaust manifold.. I bet that really did have a smell... Could you imagine being in one of those bumper to bumper backups on the highway... I wonder if it had a switch so you can just turn it on when you are full speed ahead. I will likely buy the macerator when I hit the road for a few months early next year. I think it will be nice to have and useful for emptying the BW tank in various places like remote areas with vault toilets or etc.. I'd use it at home too for emptying the tanks into the septic tank clean-out pipe.
